Diagnosis and Interpretation of Soft and Hard Tissue Abnormalities: When, Why, and How to Help Your Patients

Distinguishing benign pathologies and variants of the normal anatomy from clinically significant diseases can be challenging for even experienced clinicians. Providers must determine whether further evaluation or a biopsy is needed and how to strike the right balance between alarming patients unnecessarily with the risk of delaying a diagnosis of malignancy.
In this full-day course, the instructors will help clinicians learn to identify soft-tissue mucosal disease and hard tissue radiographich pathology, including atypical presentations that vary from classic textbook pictures. Participants will have the opportunity to partake in case-based discussions to enhance their familiarity and understanding of the subject matter.
The hands-on portion of the program is designed to allow general dentists, specialists, residents, and students comfortable performing uncomplicated soft-tissue biopsies under local anesthesia in out-patient settings. Attendees will also have the opportunity to use their smartphones, laptops, tablets, or other Wi-Fi-enabled devices to participate in differential diagnosis exercises.
